European craftsmanship

Baleen Eyewear is built to last, thanks to the best traditions of European craftsmanship, who are the pioneers of this industry. Hence, all the materials we use come from the top Italian producers. The eyewear is manufactured and hand-finished in France, and our original cases are produced by one of the oldest Polish leather craftsmen.

Sustainable production

We are proud that every element of the Baleen experience is designed with sustainability and function in mind. We are guided by a principle of quality over quantity, and limiting ourselves to a regional production.

Transparency of the supply chain

We want to be a transparent producer for conscious consumers. Therefore, we share the origin of our materials and its producers and recognize their contribution to the quality of our product.

Acetate Frames - Mazzucchelli

Cellulose Acetate is a bioplastic derived from cellulose and camphor, which are both plant-based ingredients. In fact, celluloid replaced the tortoiseshell, whalebone, horn and any other animal bones from the production of eyewear while replicating their natural effects. In recent years, Mazzucchelli has improved the energy efficiency of its production, significantly reducing waste and cutting carbon emissions.

Lenses - Divel Italia

Divel Italy organic lenses provide protection against UVA/UVB radiation with additional anti-reflective coating. In the mid-70s, Divel became one of the first European manufacturers to acquire the rights and technology to produce CR39 organic plastic lenses.

Metal parts - Visottica Comotec

The metal parts come from the world's leading eyewear manufacturer from Italy. They are engraved with our original Baleen pattern that gives the frames their unique finishing.

Baleen cloth

Baleen cleaning cloths are manufactured in Europe and made of organic microfibre, certified according to Oeko-tex Standard 100 - i.e. free of substances harmful to health.

Case - Malton & Kielman

Each of our Baleen cases is handmade by a leather maker for about 3.5 hours. The case is sewn from the best Italian leathers with minimal material usage. The universal design of our cases works well for frames of all sizes while maintaining small dimensions. The result is an exclusive, functional item of guaranteed quality.
